ABOUT RACHEL

I have been teaching singing for a few years now, and thoroughly enjoy working through various techniques and exercises that will allow a student to develop their own musical personality. Singing is definitely not a one size fits all!

More about me:
Born in Canberra, I went to local schools in the north side, attending piano lessons in my primary years and singing lessons in my mid teens. When I finished Year 12, I enlisted as a musician the Australian Army Band Corp. I was honoured to perform to large varierty of local and international audiences! I have very fond memories of travelling on deployments to Bougainville, Timor Leste and the Solomon Islands to perform for the troops. Higlights of that career was performing in Gallipoli for the Anzac Day Dawn Service in 2003 and East Timor 1999 on stage with Kylie Minogue, John Farnham, James Blundell, Doc Neeson, Gina Jeffries, Jack Jones (aka Irwin Thomas).

I have dabbled in musical theatre, playing lead and minor roles in the Hot Mikado, Fame, Jesus Christ Superstar and Chess.

I have been having a great time singing in local Canberra bands such as Smooth Ops, Connexion Big Band and of course my beloved duo In2Deep. If you ask me who my favourite singer is, I really couldn't tell you - I love so many styles of music and many singers, although Aretha Franklin and Doris Day are just two of the many that I adore.

Recording wise, as well as my own ventures, I have been fortunate to join some amazing musicians including Pearl Noir, Dorothy-Jane Gosper, The Blamey Street Big Band, James Blundell, Sheldon Keys, Christine McKnight, Camilo Gonzales and of course Michael Dooley, who blessed me with the opportunity to sing Be Thou My Vision on his award winning music score for The Pilgrim's Progress (2019).
